One of the advantages of using a capo is that you can move a song to a vocal range that is comfortable for your voice. The capo also allows you to use easier chords for playing certain songs.

When you use a capo, place it as close to the fret wire as you can. This will help to eliminate string buzzing. If you have considerable warping on your guitar neck, you may find the capo somewhat difficult to use effectively.

On the following page the new song, Eleanor Rigby, is pitched in a high singing key where it was sung by the Beatles. The chords are easy to play in this key, so it is written very much like the original version. If you want to sing in a lower, more comfortable key, you can capo at the 5th fret and sing lower. The starting singing pitch is given for use with or without the capo.
